Volunteers are needed for a number of different tasks to help make the March on Wall Street South mobilization a success! Fill out the volunteer form if you’re interested in helping out, and please see below for specific requests for various volunteer needs.
March on Wall Street South Wellness Brigade
Calling all nurses, medics, emergency personnel, doctors, and other trained healthcare workers: join the Coalition to March on Wall Street South Wellness Brigade!
We have been preparing to march on the 2nd largest banking capital during the DNC on Sept. 2nd in Charlotte, NC for nearly a year. We need your help to make this momentous challenge against the 1% successful and safe for everyone involved. As in any large demonstration, sheer probability dictates that someone will have medical needs which must be met. We don’t anticipate heavy use of our healthcare team, but it’s always better to be well prepared than under-prepared. Due to the hot, dry summer this year, one of the main tasks of the health brigade will be to do our best to protect against dehydration, overheating and sunburn.
Please get in touch with Andy Koch (firstname.lastname@example.org // 919-749-2532) if you would like to volunteer! In any correspondence, please briefly indicate your training, healthcare background, and any credentials you hold.
ASL Interpreters needed for March on Wall St South Events
As you probably know, there are many activists actions/events called for both the DNC and RNC in the next few weeks.
There’s only about two weeks left before all of the actions go down in Charlotte, NC from Sept 1st to Sept 2nd. We are currently looking for ASL interpreters who can volunteer their skills at the March on Wall Street South on Sept 2nd and possibly at Festivaliberación the day beforehand. It would be great to have 3-4 ASL interpreters that could rotate throughout the march and rally. We’ll be starting the day off at 11am with a rally, at some point in the middle of the march there will be another rally, and then we’ll be ending with a rally – all of which have a few people sharing their remarks. During the course of the march, our translators and interpreters will be on a moving stage.
On Sept 1st we will be having an immigrant and youth focused festival and would like to have ASL interpreters for that as well and would appreciate it if the ASL interpreters for Sept 2nd’s march could volunteer their time during that day, too. We want to make the week’s events as accessible as possible.
If you need assistance with housing or transportation please let us know ASAP and we will try our best to work out those details – there are folks coming from all around the nation so we should be able to connect you with the right people.
Even if you are unable to volunteer but have experience with translation and/or interpretation at mass demonstrations please share with us any best practices for how to navigate accessibility in these spaces.
Are there people within this network that you may be able to help OR could you please forward this request to contacts/networks?
